The importance of Istighfaar

8 April 2009 1,118 views No Comment

On the authority of Anas who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah say, Allah  said:

“O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it.”

[It was related by at-Tirmidhi (also by Ahmad ibn Hanbal). Its chain of authorities is sound]

Subhan’Allah! Allah’s  acceptance of tauba is so bountiful.  The days and nights of isthighfar are almost gone within Ramadhan, make the most of it.

We should learn the du’at for forgiveness.

The simplest of which is:

“Allahumma innaka afuwwun tuhibbul afwa fa-fu anni.”

O Allah! Thou art the Most forgiving, Thou lovest forgiveness, so forgive me.

Keep on desisting from those sins and reciting this du’a at the minimum.

May Allah 
accept each and every one of our tauba. Ameen
